Good News - we are delighted to report that the Multi Unit Development Legislation Bill was passed by Government at 11pm on December 16th 2010. The Bill now just needs to run through formalities of the Seanad, and then the President will sign it into our legislation in the New Year. It will then be known as the MUD Act. We are gratified that several key points and matters of import highlighted by our firm’s initiatives and submissions were included and adopted into the ACT. So we all share a great sense of pride by what has been achieved from our effort and contribution.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this subject let me clarify that despite a huge volume of multi-unit development in Ireland, limited legislation was simultaneously developed to accommodate appropriate rules and regulations for their design construction and finish. The poorly provided legislation gave rise to many poorly built and uncompleted developments and significantly an absence of consumer rights and protections for redress and remedy.
